You're absolutely right. That's why I'm thinking once I've got the OD in I'll make the switch to 4.56 and be able to get up hills on the hwy again. Pretty excited hehe
fwiw, I had the GM-8 turbo on my 6.2L...no issues what-so-ever. Good little turbo IMO. Yes, there are better, but this one spooled nicely right off idle and didn't feel like it was building up the back pressure as much...though I never put a gauge on it to see.
I went with a hx35w on my 82 k30's 6.2. At first it had horrible boost lag but after I retarded the timing some it spools much quicker and has plenty of power. The only problem is the blow by it now has (18 psi will do that). Building a new 6.5 with a nv4500. Bought a new waste gate to limit the boost to 14-15 psi this time.
