Hey guys,

I just finished putting in a 6" lift in my 89 k5 and i need to know how much my drive shafts need to get lengthened. I'm also putting in a 205 t-case in place of the 241 that was in the truck. Can a cross member for a 203 work? Can i use the one that was in the k5 still? The tranny is a 4 speed standard?

89 4 speed and 241 good combo.

89 4 speed requires a 205 with round 6 bolt pattern and long 32 spline input from another 465 /205 combo from around 84ish up or a th400 85 and up.

your tranny tcase adaptor will need to be swaped also for the shifter bolt boss to let you bolt the shifter on.

and then you need a 85-up only style crossmemeber for the short tranny/tcase mount . 203 only came flat style you need the humped style.

and why the swap to 205. not a bad choice but 241 good case with low range better than 205.

when this is all done then you can measure for drive shafts.

Honestly, I wouldn't put a 205 in place of your 241 unless you have bad issues with steep angles on your rear driveshaft and even then I would probably consider an SYE before I'd go to the trouble of putting a 205 in.

As far as driveshafts go, measure the distance from the center of each u-joint cap and any driveline shop will be able to modify your stuff.

the only reason why i'm replacing the 241 is that its got a cracked casing. Ive got the 205 sitting around so i figured i would put it to use. what is an SYE?

right on thanks alot! So the 85-up crossmember should be the one that i already have in my truck then right?

that would be correct.

if basicly flat = 84-down

if 1 or 2 humps in the crossmember = 85-up

you will know if its flat or humped trust me. there is no middle ground like close to 1 or the other.
