6 lug rear to 5 lug rear questions

Are they the same rear ends with just different axle shafts and drums?

A buddy of mine has a 78 2wd blazer which is 5 lug. the rear end blew up. I have a 6 lug rear, but wondering if you can just swap parts..or if he is gonna have to get a 5 lug rearend?

You can swap shafts and brakes and be done with it . I am running a 5 lug axle with 6 lug in it now , it works both ways /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

i think the shock mounts are at different heights, not sure though /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

we put a 2wd 12bolt in Confednecks old truck... im pretty sure the shock mounts are the same

i have both a 2wd 12 bolt, and a 4x4 12 bolt. if i remeber i'll take a look at the shock mounts tomorrow.
