6 shocks in the back

so today i took my top off and cleaned out the back of my k5. when i was taking some pics i thought id take some of the shocks ive been wondering about. they are horizantal to the frame and i cant see what theyre for. maybe axle wrap or horizantal movement? i dunno, anyone have these can tell me what theyre for?

The horizontal one is to control wheel hop. That was the fad back in the early to mid 90's.

A buddy of mine has a 72 blazer with shocks horizontal mounted similiar to that.. He mounted them that way about 12 years ago... I cant say how much difference they make because I never rode in it before they were installed..His is the only one I have seen like that around here...
