hey guys, i have a 6" superlift suspension lift and i seem to be having a problem. i got the full 4 leaf kit used and when i put it on i seem to have a rake in the rear and it seems to sit nice in the front, my question is , why does it have a rake in the back? i loosened the front and rear leaf spring bolts to take any pressure off, it did take it out of the back a little but it's not level with the front! don't know why. please help? this kit was taken off of a 85 chevy pickup, would that matter? i am putting it on my 79 GMC jimmy(blazer) so maybe it's diffrent.

So you got it used. Did you see a add a leaf in the rear. That might be it. How much higher is it? Do you have the same setup as the guy you got it off of? Did you see it on his?

All the Superlift kits I've seen including my old one sat about 2-2.5" lower in the rear. I eliminated the factory 2.5" block that my kit used, and did a 4" shackle flip with a easy inch spacer to get it to sit level.

well, all i know is that they were all bought brand new with no add a leaf i nt them, the guy said it was a complete full leaf kit. but it was off a pickup, so i don't know if there's a problem, in the rear, i have a leaf pack, under is a 1/2 inch block and a angled shim to tilt the axle for the drive shaft, so if i take out the 1/2 inch block, maybe it will fix the problem.

no it's a gm 10 bolt, would love to swap both out and put danas in. my plan i guess is to just put a 1/2 inch block in the front and then it shoud level out.

So you only need to lower the rear by only 1/2" inch?

big no no, no blocks up front.... get a zero rate, EZ inch, etc... and definitely ditch the back block to see if that gets it reasonable first...

well then my lift isn't going to be 6", in my perspective, a 1/2 inch block isn't going to hurt anything, maybe if it were a 3" block then there would be a problem.

well, then your perspective may get you killed at some point...... front blocks are bad juju...

well, then your perspective will get you killed at some point...... sure, put blocks up front....

And a zero rate/ez inch isnt a block

i see no harm in a 1/2 in block in front, hell i wouldnt even call it that, that is more a spacer.

So i guess use a bolt to hold your"block" to your spring pack instead of a centering pin and your good to go

nope, part of the spring pack... big dif......

Well my truck came with 3 inch blocks in the rear that were bolted to the spring pack..... So that makes them legit?

I dont see how bolted/non bolted makes a difference on a 1/2 inch block. the centering pin is gonna keep it in its place.

blocks in the back are one thing.... spitting a rear block out is embarrassing, spitting a STEERING axle block out will kill people...

Well i guess i see your point, but a 1/2 block held in with a centering pin seems plenty safe to me. I see a Degree shim being more dangerous than a block, since it is angled and more prone to spitting out.

to be on the safe side i think i'll take the one out of the back, and see what will happen. thanks ryoken for your consern. would rather live than die of something stupid like a block breaking and flying into the ditch.

right, not sure exactly why you have a rake, but generally your a little more limited in the front as to options on changing things... basically you have spring lift, a zero rate and slightly longer shackles... rear is much more versatile...

one other possibility here is that the fronts have sagged.... doubtful if they're fresh, especially Superlift (known for very high spring rates) springs... but if the front height is decent, I'd definitely look to pull the small back block to even it out....

this is supposed to be a Superlift, all spring 6" lift? I'm wondering if Superlift's kit has a 4" spring in the back and 2" block, or if it's just supposed to be a 6" spring.... and this guy added the block for loads, etc...

Brett (sweetk30) will know, he's pretty versed in Superlift products, hopefully he'll chime in...
