$60k 79 K5 Blazer - wow! crazy pricing but nice rig

I believe that is where some of this is gonna go just by nature of the age of these trucks.. that are hot right now. It’s crazy..

I think this one has been posted here before. Frame on restoration apparently = cans of rustoleum.

It does look pretty good from what I can see, just not $60K good. Probably one of those rigs someone dumped a ton of money into, decided they didn't want, and are going to find out you don't get out nearly what you put in.

Hi dyeager535 - I've noticed on CL recently there are alot of K5s for sale and going for cheap. One today for $300.

From the ad...

1979 Chevrolet Blazer Cheyenne 4X4

VIN: CKL189F100959

This 1979 Four Wheel Drive Chevrolet Cheyenne K5 Blazer is a one owner vehicle with 56,090 actual miles. A doctor purchased it new from Gribble Chevrolet in Athens Ohio on the 9th day of September in 1978. It has been well cared for and garaged its entire life and it recieved a high-quality frame on restoration in 2015. Its rust-free body was finished in the original color of Camel Metallic. The Buck Skin interior presents its self extremely well and appears to be original condition. It is equipped with the desirable Cheyenne trim package, the correct 5.7 liter 350 cubic inch V8, TH350 3 speed automatic transmission and NP-2058 transfer case. This 38 year old classic rides and drives extremely well and is highly optioned including power steering, power brakes, All Weather air conditioning, cruise control, AM push button radio, electric rear window, removable hardtop, front bucket seats, folding rear bench seat and soft ray tinted glass. Purchase will include the original sales agreement, deposit receipt, paid in full receipts, original owner's manual and Chevrolet 1979 sales catalog.

So, the pics match the claims. Body on resto, resprayed factory colors clearly with better paint. The underside got the used car lot once over, which is a shame because it probably wasn't bad.

The only real flaw I can see is some trim fitment issues on the driver's side near the tail light.

Is it worth $60K? Not to me, but maybe to someone?

Does having modern paint (which looks in he pic to be base coat/ clear coat) detract from the value? Original paint would have been acrylic enamel

Finding an unmolested K5, even the last few years, is near impossible. The ones that are even halfway decent I'm seeing for ~$3500+. And they still need work.

Np2058?
No.
That has an np203 full time transfer case.
Look.. no hubs, drive flanges.
Still has the tcase differential that wears out at about 50,000 miles.
Everyone converted them to part time.
I've got a 1976.
Mine is greasy, rusty, and has a 400.
Nice truck in the ad.
But full time and only a 350.
Probably a gov bomb rear axle too.
Willing to bet there is gear oil in the tcase instead of 10w 30 too.
Everyone made that mistake.
It would need a part time kit and a set of hubs.
But this one is worth about $10,000 to a collector.
60k is dreaming.

$60K is definitely dreaming. Getting that truck for $10K is also dreaming though...5 or 10 years ago maybe. Not now though.

All I can say is who ever put the upper molder strip on sucks.

Nearly every truck that place has is so over priced it is ridiculous. Yes the 73-91 GM's are super popular and crazy priced but that places vehicles need to come with $20K + in the glove box to justify what they are asking. Plus they advertise as "barn find" or "original" I find it hard to believe a 50,000 mile "squarebody" needs a seat recovered. I have had low mile trucks and they didn't need seat covers.

it looks like ? a crease
if so did they mention it or just hide it ?
60k no way but sure was a pleasure to look at

It’s a reflection. Other pics show it straight. Driver’s side also has a ‘crease’ when the door is open, but other pics show no crease.
