Hi. I'm looking for some help with my up coming rear spring swap. I'm putting some rear springs out of an 1994 Chevy half ton in my 1984 Chevy 3/4 ton. I know tons of people have done this. BUT---I haven't been able to find any pics of the forward spring mount modifications. I have the set of off road design's shackle flip for the back.
Thanks.

1st there 64" springs

and move the hanger forward the diffrence and bolt it in. going to have to swap to short bed gas tanks or blazer tank in rear or fuel cell. new hanger position will hit long bed tank .

64" spring /2 = 32" eye to center
52" spring /2 = 26" eye to center
56" spring same front half as 52" but 4" longer on rear end.

so if you wana move the hanger forward its 32-26= 6" forward. then rear will be back same way but dep on length of springs removed. and if i recall the stock hangers are 1" forward of length to help shackle angle.

if you were paid member i would show pics of my 1 truck i did it to years ago . but non paid members here cant see hosted pics .

Dude, I know all that. I just need some pics. Measuring is one thing---i have a tape measure, but when can I see it all done and perfect---sh!t just clicks for me you know?

I was going to post what I found in a couple minutes of searching, but if you're not a paid member, so like was said ya can't view pics. If you want to pony up here is a couple threads with pics.

I typed in to the search 63"/64" spring swap and came up with all kind of stuff with pics on this subject in about 2 minutes. I have posted pics of this many times. My pics are in one of these two threads if not both.

Here are some pics of my 64" swap:
I moved the crossmember forward as well, but I'm not sure that it's necessary though.

And...that post right there is why i'm not a paid member. Seriously---jeez man, we're guys here. We need wrenches turned. Things fixed, and beer. Ego stroking is on other sites. That's why I posted this in the garage!

What sucks is when I sold my 85 short box i had a tank out that leaked...the one I would nead. Gave it to the guy that bought the truck,he said he would buy a new one anyway.

I only got the pass side tank on my long box...maybe I could cut a hole in it for the hanger to fit. I was thinking move it forward...just looked, that wont work.
Don`t want a tank in the back of the box.

Guess I gotta try to find a tank for a S/B. Mabe a blazer tank. :dunno:

Yeah!
It`s 25 bucks dude! I don`t think that is to much for what you can learn and see in the pic`s. :dunno:

Everyone is willing to help...just don`t whine about it. :D

Hey man I ain't whinin'!!! Its just that people who post just to post kill me. I mean really...what did he ad to this thread? Nothing. I was clear in the post that what I wanted was pics! Then he goes and corrects me. I just thought...really? I'm here for solutions and positive input. No to be corrected! Everyone knew what I was talking about. If you go onto any Toyota site they refer to them as Chevy 63's. I donno' maybe he was drunk and read right thru the part where i said I needed pics. Maybe he just likes to post to feel cool. Hell...all I do know is that he didn't ad anything to the thread.

Look in my build thread. Don't have to be a member to see pics. Simple set up using the stock rear front hanger. Moves your axle back 2-3" you should have enough room on your truck to use the stock rear front hangers and the shackle flip. Me thinks..

I know and I love them for it! Everyone has their thing. Mine seems to be thread killers. I mean don't you agree that a thread is usually started to help someone? Anyway..I really do appreciate any and all input. Seriously. And...I probably will start a paying membership soon. But---I will still hate thread killers. :-)

Just advice. Moc ship up and test fit stuff befor you make it permanent. And don't weild your hangers! Ya never know...

JMO... just ignore the posts you don't like... sweetK30 is a good guy!:thumb:
The more you are around the more you will get to know how to take info given.

Like I said before everyone is here to help... even if it doesn't answer your question directly the info might help someone else. Like it did for me by reading what he had to say.

Good luck man! Looking forward to seeing what you are building.

--I will still hate thread killers. :-)

In this case I think you are the thread killer yourself.
You are overreacting, Sweetk30 was just beeing helpful imho.

But back to the subject...
Relocate the tank to the bed.
If you're swapping in 64" springs you're going to wheel it,
and if you do that with the tank hanging in the stock location,
you could end up with a pretty ugly gas leak:doah:
But I guess swapping in a Blazer tank would work as well.:waytogo:
