Did the 63" rear spring packs on 88-98 GM trucks differ between the 2 wheel drive version and 4 wheel drive version?

I've heard the 2wd packs had 3 leaves + the overload leaf

and that the 4wd packs had 4 leaves w/the overload

is this true?

I just traded a case of bud-light for a pair of what appear to be brand new 63" springs that were pulled from an always-garaged 98 Chevy 2wd pickup. At least thats what I was told they were.

These things are clean and my Suburban should would love the flex.......

I've heard that yes.

It's also interesting to me that some people call them 63" and some say 64". Are they the same springs or did they mix them?

I have a pair I am looking to put in my 71 and they are definitely 64"

But some people swear theirs are 63". So I was just curious if you had actually measured them.

I haven't measure mine,no.

I got them off a parted out '98 2wd Chevy 1500 pickup

I"ve seen them referred to as 64's also

you have to measure them when they're flatened out ,right?

Yes, but flattening them out isn't going to change the length so you can just measure along the arch of the spring.

I think maybe the difference is coming up because some are measuring just the leaf and some are measuring center to center of the bushing.

Check this out; I measured with a folding rule layed flat along the arch and from center to center:

These springs of mine came from a 89 Chevy 2 wheel drive 1/2 ton truck. They have three leaves and an overload.

So we are agreeing that they are 64" right??

I've got the flexy 3-leaf pack w/overload. These boogars look brand new. I don't think the truck they came off of had many road miles. Definitely no bad weather miles

i always call them 64's, i like even numbers, and goes well with 52's and 56's

:waytogo:

I'll be moving up to Virginia later this year

Hook a brutha up with hot wheelin' spots?
