Would like to know some solutions to runnin 14" travel shocks on my 14 bolt. Inboarding? Towers like the front?

I inboarded mine too. Like I was saying in another thread, I may just use the option of removing the shocks before any serious wheeling. 63's with a reversed shackle flip provide way too much travel.:D

ive got 64's but i plan to run them back off the axle at an angle on the frame (not triangle style). if your going to triangle your shocks there is no need for 14" travel shocks, doing the triangle style allows you to get away with less travel in the shocks because of angle they are positioned.

Do you run limiters? Bolting them back in the stock location should work fine then, Yeah?

You may have your set up differently, but there is no way mine would bolt up in the stock position. The axle sits back too far.

I got my shocks inboarded and they are mounted on the frontside of the axle. If they were on the back they would interfer with the gas tank

here was my 64 inch shock setup 3 inches of up travel and about 9 inches of droop

I like the inboarding idea. Seems like you can fine tune the shocks more. This thread needs to go to the 52" spring swap thread with this much info. Since there are no shock solutions for the rear.

The way that Scott did his shocks is a great way to do it IMO.

If you don't want to angle the shocks, you will have to cut the body. If you don't want to cut the body, you will have to angle the shocks (which reduces their effectiveness).

Not having shocks sucks bad, even for a trail only rig.

why are you only running 3 inches of up travel will it not flex up any more or will it hit the tank. On my sub swap i pulled 8.5 inches of droop or down travel and im guessing about the same up travel im going into the floor with the hoop????

did you mesure the up travel or just set the shocks up for the most droop or down travel. how much reverse arc did you get out of you're springs.

i didnt really set anything up...that was a day before a wheeling trip i just put that together and it worked out with 9 inches of droop...to anwwser your other question

i was planing on 4" to 6" but am only getting about 3" so far going to remove the overload and install one or two small leaves, the over load is stoping the up travel.
I put my inclosed toy hauler trailer on the sub today hoping for up travel and it only went down 2" or 3"
im thinking a 14" travel shock will be enough.
I plan on compressing the shock the amount of droop plus an inch and then figure out tthe mounting at ride height.

I reversed the overload today and got reverse arc now pulling a solid 5"+ of up travel with one wheel being raised and a strap on the fram to axle and it still had more was just really progressive.
So now i am cycling 13 1/2 inches
8 1/2 of down
5" of up i bet it will go 6" to 6 1/2 especially if i removed the overload
and a 16 inch travel shock so i got a little pkay room in both up and down so it the mounting is not perfect i got a little room to play with. The shocks will also help with the down travel as they will push the axle down. I also am thinking of extending the spring clamps for a bit more just bending them straight and installing a bolt across.
