Now that the Blazer is sold I think I'm going to buy a pick-up. I've had several trucks/Blazers of the '73-91 vintage, but never the older ones. I'm looking for something cheap, $5000 or less, and perfer the '67-68. Probably will be 2WD so I resist temptation, plus they are easier to find. Not ruling out a 4WD or K5, I just doubt I'll find one in my price range.

With all that said, anything important to look at when buying? Is it worth flying out west and having a truck shipped back considering my price range? I'm looking for something like this:

looks pretty damn good to me. As far as I remember disk brakes weren't even an option until '71 (I think), but judging by everything else he's done it wouldn't surprise me a bit if there were disks up front now.

The original transmission has been swapped out for the 700R4 which has an overdrive; the switch would be for the torque convertor to lockup. Hope this makes sense to you.

Man I totally forgot about that. Been forever since I've even looked at something with a swapped in 700R4. Thanks.

just noticed no brake booster on that one. I didn't know that you could get a '72 without power brakes. Looks like on either one you'd be doing some brake work.

I noticed that. It's got me wondering if that engine makes enough vacuum for power brakes.

it'll make enough vacumn as long as the po didn't swap in some crazy-a$$ cam. p/b were always an upgrade option. kinda surprised, a/c but only manual brakes? hey, i've seen crazier. tranny is most likely a TH350. it looks good, but in no way $4800 good. big plus is that the owner appears to be a knucklehead. 350 BBC??? come on. go there with 3K in hand and do some hagling for sweet vintage iron!:D ps- start at $2500!

I don't think I would pay more than $4k for either of the two I linked. Maybe a little more for the orange one, but not $48oo

I would also take a look at the hole in the dash he cut for the radio. A cut dash is something that bothers some people and brings the value down in their eyes. Something to mention if you get into a discussion about the trucks condition and value.
