i need a tow rig so.... i have 5000 to spend and my grandfathers 68' lwb 2wd is for sale. it's a nice truck and basicly only needs paint (rust free). its sports a 327/ th350/ 2bb carb. i can get the truck for 2000. 1 thing: i must have 4wd. i have a good 78 lwb 4x4 frame and a set of 3/4 tons (sf14b-3/4t 10b). how much headache would it be to swap bodies? and should i keep the 327ci and add a 4bb, or scrap it for a fresh 350ci or go RAT? and is it probable to stay in budget? i want a super clean vintage truck that is reliable as hell. because it will see some daily driver use. now here is the kicker; i found an ultra clean retired forestry truck that is 1ton and 4x4 only its a mopar. 77' dodge w/ 318ci, 727tf, np205, 60/70 for 4500 and it only has 40k on it. the only problem is its not a chevy. im trying to clean house and get down to only bowties in the driveway. what would you do?:doah:

your looking for a dependable towrig/dd, I wouldn't try to do a body swap project for what your looking for. And stay away from the dodge, you can find better with your budget...

5k you could find a decent 81-87 K20 or K30 chev with a 454
