Anybody see the news all over Facebook? A close source I know that deals with Dynacorn says they will be under $10K. Not sure when they will be available either. I've been waiting 2 years for a '57 cab/doors from the same company with no luck. They claim the bodies are stuck in shipping containers and nowhere near docking yet.

It'll be interesting to see how Premier Street Rod reacts this. Their tub sells for $18K.

I talked to these guys (Dynacorn) at SEMA, they made it sound like they were a ways off yet.

If only someone would make a 2nd gen 73-75 tub. Probably not a big market for that
I feel the same. 2nd gen full top convertables are the next best thing to 1st gen. Which is why I own two. But the 1st gen. guys hate squarebodies and the 67-72 truck body style that matches 1st gen k5’s is the most popular. Hence, the aftermarket caters to them

Yeah my 73 was a complete impulse buy. I did no research whatsoever on what was more sought after or valuable

I know it probably will never happen as long as I'm alive (52) but I'd love to see and would purchase a brand new regular cab for my '85 K30. I know there's too many of these leftovers out there in the world but one can only hope and dream. Like I said and I'll be way dead before they come out with them in the future.

Is any of this made here? Either company?
I'm friends with Seth Doulton (yes, the Golden State Promotions owner) and he's a retailer for Dynacorn. He tells me the same thing about the cabs being on hold. He also tells me that Dynacorn owns the rights to the stampings, or dies, and where they're all stamped out in China they're assembled and spot welded here in the USA. He goes on to tell me that Premier Street Rods buys the tin from Dynacorn and welds them up in their shops. They do a slight markup on their price and even though they told me there's an 8-10 week turnaround time I'm wondering how they can get cabs out if Dynacorn can't get the metal delivered onshore. Sounds like PSR is out to take your money on orders while making you wait. I don't know. Sounds skeptical.

its all reflective on the price point. A clean 73-75 full top can go for the same price as a rust bucket 1st gen with missing interior. plus squarebody parts are easier to find and less expensive. I wouldn’t feel bad about your impulse buy.

I don't feel bad about it at all. I actually like the clean lines of the square body years a little better anyway

10K? maybe in prepandemic US dollars?

if these become avail 2 years from today... 10K plus "3.5 percent inflation" and these should round out at about 40 grand -or in terms that are more easily related to in today's current events : it will cost the same as about 50 boxes of eggs from stater brothers.

The cabs on Dynacorns site list at $9K and PSR's price is either $12K or $13K, can't remember without checking. Not sure on the K5 tub prices though.

Attractive idea, how's this work VIN wise?
Someone on here has a fiberglass body K5. Anyone remember who it was? They were in MI I think. Should be the same process. Or anyone on here who’s rebodied a Jeep?

Just move the tag to the new body. There is nothing illegal going on, just repair work on an old truck. I have had plenty of vin inspections over the years, never had anyone with knowledge of what a factory rivet looks like. You can also buy factory rivets so it really doesn't matter.

Yea but what if you want to do a new custom build and don’t have an existing vin to start with?
