Nope.

4.3 uses the PH 3980 Fram where the older 350s use PH 5 or PH 30. You can put a PH 3387A from the smaller GM cars on a 4.3 in a pinch, though.

88-up 4wds use the 3980 as well.

yep the diameter is quite a bit different. i think the lenght is close, not sure on the threads

Threads should be the same. Diameter is much smaller as is the gasket surface.

Randy, keep in mind that a 4.3 is just a 5.7 with 2 cylinders cut out of the middle. while you may not be able to put the oil filter itself on, you could change the oil filter mounting adapter. i see no reason why it shouldnt work. they use the same gaskets.

While I'm sure that's possible, I can't see why one would do it.

4.3L is more different than that, ppl like to make it all sound simple like that and such, but there are more differences from a 4.3L casting to a 5.7L casting than simply being one cylinder length shorter.

im not gonna attemtp swapping adapters since i do not know for sure if it will hurt the engine or not, cant afford to ruin the engine if it didnt work out i was just curious to see if i could use a 1218 on my brothers 92 s-10

but answer looks to be no, so im not gonna try it
