Only issue to be aware of is that those front studs (they appear to be what I used, which I can't find the PN for) are likely going to be shorter when installed than you will expect.
I pulled one of the studs I already have and measured them out and they are within a 1/16th of an inch of my current studs. I'm pretty sure they'll be ok. If I could have found longer ones I would have, but the longer ones I was able to find had a longer shoulder and I was worried about that keeping the nuts from snugging down tight to the rim.
Why not use the spline drive lugnuts. It's what they were designed for. I have them on my Duramax and my Dart. Work great.

In that case, the difference is probably just the "height" of the 7/16" nut compared to the 1/2". I'm guessing side by side the average 1/2" lug nut is a bit taller. With a "closed end" lug nut, you'd never notice.
