i have been following the diesel suburban thread and am the process of doing the same with a daily driver 70 3/4t 4wd. i have a 98 6bt 12 valve that i am going to use. i will be running a dana 60 passenger side diff out of a early 90's dodge. the truck will see some trailer duty. max weight will be 15-18k including trailer. it will be more of a work/daily driver though. i am after the best possible ride while still maintaining trailer manors. would a guy be better of going with 52's? or what about a coil spring setup with either radius arms or links like the dodge setup. i am after 4-5 inches of lift with 64's in back with a 14bff and 33in tires. tia

I think you're dreaming about getting 4 - 5" of lift on 52s with a 1000Lb diesel motor up front....

You've got about a 400Lb weight penalty with that motor over a BBC, and even more than that vs. an SBC. In an application like yours, a traditionally "stiff" spring is probably going to be the correct solution.

do you think there will be a difference in the ride between the coil or the leaf spring setup?
