My Mom called me , they are tired of the Chevelle my stepdad bought sitting in their garage . He never works on it , my stepbrothers never showed any real intrest in doing it . So I am taking it home this week .

1970 Chevelle , swapped in 305 , th350 , 10 bolt . Needs some work , interior , a fender and hood . But I could put it in primer and at least have a nice driving builder after I get some discs up front .

Heres the kicker , I also get the fresh from machine shop 3504 bolt engine he bought for it , .060 over , crank kit , heads , cam etc . Just needs tin :xmas:

And my Mom said I'd just OWE HER . Pics when its reality , and I dig it out from under their junk :D

I have to go back Sunday to fetch it .

Tonight I go to get it , fixed Moms garage door , moved everything and pushed the car out . It has lights but won't crank , so I attach my jumper cables and sit and smoke while it charges .

After a few it should start , right ?

Nope , no anything except lights . I look at the starter and see 3 wires , I check with a VOM and see power at battery cable , power at the little one that feeds into the car , and nothing at the solenoid trip wire when key turned .

Follow that wire up until I find the guy that owned it before my stepfather had cut and wire nutted it . Run a piece of wire to the battery and tap it onto the wire , damn things turns over .

So I think its just a dirty connection at wire nut , no biggie I will fix it .

Anyway after I see the fuel filter glass fill up while cranking , we stop , pump carb 3 times , and she fires up on first kick , and sounds sweet at idle for a 305 with duals , this engine will go right into my trail truck :D

I couldn't drive it home though , Holley leaks out plug on side of rear bowl , and balancer came apart and rattles on front cover .

Gonna show up with one of Shawns Holley's , and just remove the outer balancer for the ride home , and drive her home tommorrow .

Awsume!!!!! can't wait to see them pic's!

Pics soon , just got it home .

It drove like an old Chevy ;)

Needs disc brakes , ball joints , control arm bushings , swaybar bushings , and shocks . The drums worked good enough to drive home , and the gearbox is tight and power assist works great . Most of it wll be done with a disc swap later on .

It has power for a 305 , but when ya try to give it gas at a light the motor mounts are shot and fan hits shroud .

I am happy , no rust , good builder , came with two motors , and all my momma wants for it is a grandchild within 5 years :D

K heres the pics , bear in mind its a builder , and I do need a fender , bumpers , and fender extension/headlight bezels , but its not rusty and has chrome rocker strips :D

I love old Chevelles.

That car has plenty of potential, just needs a little Pauly grease. Nice score!

I have been coated in Pauly grease for a month straight now :haha:

A little cleanup and some rubber and she will rock . I see just primer and put in the other motor . I did run the numbers and it was a 307 car , Malibu , Mettalic Blue ( original paint just real faded ) and blue cloth bench interior . SOmeone stuck 70's buckets in there for me already .

Pics of the machined block and new parts will be up soon :pimp:

Yea ok, time to put Jagger back in his crypt.

Rolling stones +60 years equals Cracking Bones. I keep waiting for them to roll out a wheelchair at the end of the show. Hey Mick, you dropped your teeth again.

Viagra + V8 = seeing eye dog and depends.

It'd be an intertaining show with injuries and frequent intermissions.

Now that has some deffent potential !!!!! A clean slate apon too build it how ever you want. I think I'd look into a 1-piece fiberglass tilt front end for it. www.ridetech.com has a nice air ride system.

Looking at a Touring type ride , with a little lean towards Friday night drags . I want 15 or 16x8's and like 245's all the way around on 4 inch backspacing .

I need disc brake conversion , even if its manual discs . Definite cleanup . And some bumpers etc .

Probably just throw a fender on it and primer it for a while .

Gonna wait a bit and borrow this engine and maybe some of the exhaust to get the trail truck near ready ( need cage before wheeling ) .

Now to go in the Chevelle I have it almost fugured out . I have a fresh 360 4 bolt block ( 350+.060 ) , a 10/10 forged crank , and redone stock rods with speed pro pistons . All new in box , gasket set , freeze plugs etc . I have a factory aluminum intake too . A 274 cam and lifters already .

I really just need tin , and some odds and ends for this .

And I still have a 355 to frshen up for the 83 when that 305 tires ;)

I really lucked out , but Momma says in return I have to provide a grandchild before she gets too old :D

Sounds like you have the engine thing figured out. What shape is the suspension in ?? I'd probley start with the suspension and work my way up from there, we are talking a 35 y/o suspension system. Body would be last on my list. Nothing like taking a car that looks bad and beating every idjet that laughs at it.

When I put the discs on , I will have to change bushings etc . The drive home was good steering wise , but the ride was bouncey and noisey .

Control arm bushings , swaybar bushings , all shot . Ride height is about right a little saggy , so sits fine looking without needing drop spindles or anything .

I think a 73-77 A car setup from the spindles out will be fine , and junkyard cheap , and will be better with todays tires anyway .... and I can use one part number of pads on all my "classic" rides

I even think this will eventually be my driver when the trail trucks done , so I can concentrate on my boat and cleaning up my 83 into the ultimate camping/fishing ride that goes anywhere :D

Very nice :thumb: 35 year old rust free metal, who would a thunkit :pimp1:
