If you mean the downshift mechanism, I think you've just found the problem. There is no detent for 700R4's, I gather, and they used this thing called a TV cable ... search for same, and I betcha you'll find good stuff.

NB: I have no 700's, only TH350's and 400's, and have no first-hand experience with the newfangled variety

Do you mean the shift detents? The TV cable is strictly for valve body pressure (which changes the shift points aka "kickdown") but the detents are for manual gear selection. Which one are you needing help with?

yes the tv cable the one that connects from the throttle linkage down to the transmission thanks for the help guys

If it is the 87 700r, then adjust the cable on the tb (in or out) so the trans shifts into 4th at 55mph, this is what my brother and I did on his truck, told to use by a very reputable transmision gooru. This was about 3 yrs ago, my brother drives his truck like he stole it, on the street or in a mud hole.

yeah its a 87 700 but one problem i dont exactly know where 55 is lmfao 55 on my truck is 62.4 lol

one question if you dont exaactly know where 55 is then how do you know it is 62.4 mph???

because i had a gps one day and checked out what 55 60 and 65 and 70 was lol didnt realy care bout the others
