My brother has a ‘76 Nova he restored when he was 15 (pics attached), he has been running it this way since ‘08, he originally built it with a 383 @ a hair over 400 hp on a carb. He recently acquired a motor in trade. 427 small block that’s dynoed at 14:1 and put down 690hp at the crank on 110 octane it’s built to turn 9000rpm no problem and he wants to install it in this car and run E85 EFI. He is currently looking into the Holley Sniper system.
He’s hard headed and may not listen to the advice but I’ll pass it along and document the aftermath, I’m curious what will y’all recommend or does anyone have any experience with this kinda
HP with EFI?

Most these EFI kits don’t like E85, no matter what they say

going to need atleast a super sniper .

dont forget to show him all my problems in this thread. https://ck5.com/forums/threads/my-h...m-the-start-update-the-story-ends-now.335419/

go look at the holley forum and search a lot of threads on e85 its not that easy . and the f-b page for sniper units has a lot and much more tech from holley on there .

and if holley system i think hp series would be even better for all the stuff he has to deal with for that engine and e85 mix . he better read up a LOT before pulling the trigger .

:doah: I’ll be curious to see how this goes. He says he’s doing it regardless.

I’ve told him, he does have a good point, very few offer a kit that gets gun away from Sniper which is why I started this thread.

I just wanna hear it run.:smokin2:

E85 and 700 is easy peazy with a Holly dominator ecu.
This isn't bolt on, self tune territory.

The question is is how much does he have in his back pocket to play?

He’s pretty set I believe. Where does he need to start poking around for info?

Call holley directly, they will email you a form to fill out about your engine combination and your wants and needs.
And they will build him a system.
Then just swipe the CC.:yikes:

Sweet. We were talking today and he was voicing concerns. Started talking about going carb/110 just to have it run. :rotfl:

E85 requires 1/3 to 1/2 more fuel flow than straight gasoline. So at 600hp on gas a sniper would be good for maybe 400 hp on E. And that is if the sniper is E85 capable.

Last i read the there not . Guys do run it but flush the system after .

All that I read the Holley guys were recommending a Super Sniper for E85

At the cost to buy in, I’d be tempted to run it carbureted on gas. Not like you @Scribbles need EFI for cold weather like we do. It’s a warm weather toy

and he prob wont be driving it every day like a lot of us efi swap guys are doing .
That is a good point. Alcohol likes to collect humidity. Really need to drain the tank if you can't burn through it very fast

Hey now, it was 36f when I got home today! :haha:

I imagine this will burn whatever he ends up using quickly enough!:rotfl:

I am as curious as you all with where it ends up. I just hope he doesn’t stall out.
