700R Question???

Hey all,
We'll I have a question about my buddy's 85 suburban with a 350/ 700R setup.

He went and took it off-roading one day and on the drive up to where he was going the truck ran and shifted perfect, then when coming back home, it would not shift into 3rd or fourth. It will shift into 1st and 2nd perfect, but once it goes to shift into 3rd, it just feels like the motor revs up and doesn't engage.

Could this be something simple or does the tranny need rebuilt?

willing to bet it's dead, that's exactly what mine did when it quit.

I just got it back from the rebuilder and he said the clutches for 3rd and 4th were completely down to the metal

X2, thats how mine went, 2nd gear isn't far behind

thats how 700s go 0d goes and then takes out the others. least thats what happened on mine.

I've had the governor stick on mine, causing it not to shift out of second. But I could just hold it to the wood until around 4500rpm or so, then let off completely and it would shift to the next gear.
