Ok, I just got back from some off roading and camping. I have a Trans TEmp gauge, the sending unit is in the plug hole on the drivers side just above the pan. I never really noticed my gauge too much b4. But this whole trip it was running 180-195*. So, Im just wondering , with where I have the sending unit, What am I reading? The absolute hottest it is?

I have a tranny temp. guage I'm getting ready to toss on my 700r so I'm interested to see what's normal...

BTT :)

i have 2 senders for my guage. First sender is in the pressure port hole above the pan on drivers side. The Second sender is built into a tee fitting on the return line from the cooler. Ive seen 75-100 degrees difference on the guage just flipping back and forth between senders. I heard the best spot is the pan, but the pan temp is always lower then pump temp. btw, i was running a cooler with an electric fan on it that ran all the time.

iirc and from what ive read in posts here.175 to 210 is normal.over 225 for long periods you are going to start burning the fluid.250 and higher start lookin for a new tranny soon because it will start burning stuff up.i run a 465 so i dont have to worry about tranny temps.
