700r4-79 k15??

Nope, it's a spark controll box. The only thing on the carb is just a mixture enrichment solenoid of some type. It just has two settings, really. It can't continually change the mixture like on the electronic carbs.

To do engine management, you need throttle position, manifold pressure and/or mass air flow, intake temp, exhaust oxygen content and a knock sensor. You won't find all that stuff on the trucks until they went to TBI. Cars had them in the 80's. Those carbs have a throttle position sensor with wires coming our and wires for the "dancing needle" solenoid controlled main metering rods.

In reply to:

So you cut wires that control lockup, and then ask here, how to get lockup to work. Do you see where I'm coming from?

i didnt ask how to get the lockup to work.
i just wanted to know what those wires went to.
i probobly wont run lockup for a little while.

In reply to:

Because you might find that they do NOT go to the ECM, even though they may tie into the same wire loom.

i never said they went to the ecm.
ps went to your web site: your wife looks hot in that bravarian pic. and if you dont think shed be insulted, let her know.

I alsways thought that was an ECM, thanks for the info. (I hate the electric carb)

Dorian: Hey man, im not trying to pick a fight either. Im just saying that I knew there was a way to put those wires on a switch, I had read it here before. Ryan just beat me to posting about it, and wasnt really sure, he's never had a 700 before. We're not trying to piss anyone off, we just want the trans in the truck, and sometimes a response like the one I said was vague just hits in a bad spot on a bad day. No harm done, we now know how to pop the switch on, cool?

Just wanna ba friends....

(and Tork too) No thats cool. : ) If your wanting to plumb them with just a manual switch, go for it. Lots of folks dol it that way, and its easy.

I got into the whole cutting wire thing because of the "vague" posting. I took that to mean that you were interested in getting the stock system back up and running, not just curiosity as to what the wires were/went to, or how they operated.

So, with that said, want to sell that TCC harness?

Why insist on counting when the ring gear has the tooth counts stamped in?

Its cool dude. We were just looking for the easiest way to pop it in a 79 k10 that has nothing for a 700.
