So I'm in the process of rebuilding a 87 blazer my friend gave me. It's not original but it has a 700r4which I'll be doing tranny pan gasket and oil filter. Been researching and found out about the vent tube which took me awhile to locate today cause wasn't any tube. I ended up sticking a little scew driver in the hole and got my phone up there to take a pic. Gonna use my friends scope to get in there to check it out tomorrow. Been searching for a part number or part and found a plastic tube andmetal one. Don't know which i had. Any suggestions? It's gonna be hard to tap the hole. Or should Ijust shove the plastic tube in and extend it. How does the metal one mount on?

I’ve never seen the metal one. The plastic one installs from inside the trans before you install the pump.

I'm not sure if the tube broke off or there is no tube, gonna use the scope to check it out later on today. So am I going to have to pull the tranny just to install the tube?

One could probably tap a correct size piece of tubing in there but I would be worried about pushing any debris or old plastic back into the trans.
