I just had me 700 rebuilt and am trying to decide on the converter. I currently have a mild 383 with a doubler and 4.10's in the axles turning 42's. I am just curious what others are running with this setup. I did some searching and it looks like stock give or take a little is where it needs to be. This is a trail only rig that is mainly for slow crawling.

Converter should match the cam. I wouldn't go above stock unless the powerband has been moved up a lot. Now going below stock is something I don't have experience with, but it could give good compression braking. I know that with my stock converter I can shove the 700 into 1st gear and the 208 into 4LO and take steep descents without using the brakes.

i have a built 350 with a 700r and a 1800-1900 stall and it actually crawls pretty good. but i also DD my k5, so i would go with a almost stock stall HD converter if it was in ur situation.
