I picked up a Torque Master (I think that's what it is)(Orielly house brand?) automatic transmission filter kit today from Orielly. When I tried installing the pan back on, the bottom of the filter is hitting the pan not allowing it to "SEAT" properly so I can install all of the bolts. I'm thinking its too long but after comparing them they are the same. Any suggestions? oh yeah. I did remove the old filter seal on the neck and there is a new one on the new filter.

The seal has to be installed in the transmission then the filter goes in. I tried pushing the seal on with the filter once and it didn't work that well. Also the last time i pushed one on it took more force than one would think to get the filter seated all way.

I'm guessing you don't have the filter neck pushed deep enough into the pump. Sometimes the lip of the neck will hang a little on the bore, you may need to wiggle the filter neck as you push it up in there for best results.

Only thing I could think of is this.

OR, did you look up in there? You removed 'A' (old) seal, perhaps last time it was done someone didn't, and there's an extra one up there :dunno:

I have seen / heard of 2 old seals some times.

when I install new ones I use a socket same size as OD of the seal body and extension and tap it up in place.

then filter is snug fit up in the seal .
