700r4 gurus need help

Hi all. New member here, but been lurking for a bit. Searched but couldn't find anything. I have a 700r4 in a 88 Blazer that doesn't have low or reverse when it's in drive. If in drive it starts out in 2nd or 3rd. Although if I shift manually into low it's fine. Anyone have any idea what might be causing this? Thanks.
