The vacuum switch is normally located kind of underneath the brake booster and looks like this:
Blue85, thanks. I believe I've noticed this before, but I'm going to double check. My paperwork (from PO) shows the 700R4 was professionally installed and certified to meet warranty terms, so I'm assuming all those necessary parts were accounted for. I know the TV was set with a pressure test, which leads me to believe the installation was pretty thorough. Thanks for your help.
A last note, and I promise to stop hijacking this thread after this:
- doesn't it seem odd that with all the switches and sensors available, the lockup is
not engineered to occur automatically when needed, and to disengage when not needed. What purpose would it serve to have a setup that
allows the lockup to occur in lower gears, and which
requires the driver to manually flip a switch on or off depending on his speed/driving conditions? I, admittedly, am not well schooled on the more intricate workings of a TH's torque convertor, and I'm sure there's a very good reason for it being setup the way it is, but it seems like it could be done in a way that wouldn't allow for driver ignorance/error...
