Hey guys I have got some 35s on my truck now and I'm only using it in drive until I get the gears swapped.Is this in anyway bad for my 700 to run this way for a few months.I currently have 3.42 and I'm going to 4.88

No, it would be much worse to use OD then to just stay in D. You have the right idea, don't use OD till you get the 4.88's.

a friend had a old 84 caprice and never used od and got better milage on highway. and it lasted over 160k no problems

Thanks fellas,I thouhgt it would be okay but I thougt I had read something about no t/c lockup in D and I couldn't rember if that was bad or not.

Put another cooler on the trans and a guage if you can get one, a remote filter never hurts either. Keeping the trans cool and clean is the key to a long life.

It should , and will lock up in 3rd , which is good . When I ran the 3.08's and 33's I never shifted to D unless I was flat and at highway speeds . I have thousands of miles on mine , and it will last if you keep the trans in a gear that can carry those tires. I got a cooler on mine within 2 weeks of getting my 33's and lift . The biggest one readily available
