Hey guys. I was told it would be relativley easy to put a 700r4 in place of a sm465, and still use my transfercase and all my driveshafts. Is this possible? If so, what adapters do I need and where can I get them from? I like my 4 speed, but I hate no overdrive.

the transfer case will have the wrong input on it (10 spline if pre 84ish... 32 spline if post) and the driveshafts may be the wrong length (not sure)
there are a couple ways to mate 700r4s and 205s... go here: http://coloradok5.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=garage&Number=1251980&Forum=f30&Words=700r4%20205&Searchpage=0&Limit=25&Main=1251824&Search=true&where=bodysub&Name=&daterange=1&newerval=1&newertype=w&olderval=&oldertype=&bodyprev=#Post1251980
but you will need to change the input of the 205 to 27 spline (relatively common) or find a th350 version 205

10 spline is 80 and older, 32 spline is 82-up

If your 205 is 10 spline you'll need to swap to a 27 spline input to run a 700R4.

If your 205 is 32 spline you'll need a different case and a 27 spline input.

After that the best way to bolt in a 700R4 is with a spacer.

You will need to lengthen your front and shorten your rear driveshaft.

they came in 80's fleat order trucks only.

buddy found a 85 crew cab with a 700/205 combo, for sale from a local hydro company

Cool, thanks. And if I get this, my 205 case should be in the same location? So I can keep my stock driveshafts? Thanks a lot once again guys.

well that would depend on the leanth of a 700 vs a 465, that i do not know off hand.

and you will need the 700/205 adapter/conector i am tired and cant think of what its called. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
