My 700R4 has started slipping. Is there anything I can do to it to make it last longer??

The TV cable worked. I took some slack out of it and the transmission stopped slipping. Thanks to everyone that responded.

Nope, other than don't beat on it.

Fluid and filter change will help, but nothing will keep it alive as long as you'd like it to. Like Tim said, don't beat on it...but there really isn't any hope other than a rebuild/replacement. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

You can try to put a little more tension on the TV cable so it applies more pressure to the clutch plates. Might bring your shift points up higher but worth a try.

I had the truck apart for about 6 months and I just put the tranny and motor in. I put a shift kit in the Tranny when i had it apart. Now it is slipping and i never remember it slipping before. Any thing i could of done wrong??

Re: 700R4 is slipping

you might want to go to www.thirdgen.org and go to tranny board and read up posts, this is a common problem with 700r4 and especially after shift kit installation, which kit did you install ? you will find out alot of info over at thirdgen about all this if you go there.

If you did not readjust the T.V. cable after the engine swap this may be where the problem is. Find the procedure for the cable adjustment and give it a shot.

You can always try the additive they make now for auto trans, from what I can make of it, it is a seal conditioner, which means stiff seals would be the only thing it would fix. With a newer trans rebuild anything other than a torn seal is pretty unlikely, but thought I'd toss that option out there.

I'm a firm believer in that stuff, after accidentally discovering what silicone spray in a leaky hydraulic jack will do.
