700r4 lockup issues. Trans back in

If you are thinking about building that trans, consider starting with a later unit, the early trans you have is the weakest version of the 700R4.

Hmm, if that's the case I'll just get a convertor then to get it back on the road. It'll give me time to look/decide what I'm going to do.

Quick update. I ordered a new convertor from Phoenix Trans on Monday and it should ship out friday.

So I got the new convertor on Wednesday. So between a couple evenings and today I got it all back together. I noticed two things, first the TV cable didn't click so I need to replace that. Second was when I went to start her up to get the fluid level correct, she stalled out 3 times before it would stay running. Now once it finally stayed running I shut her off after no more then a minute of run time. I had put 1 quart in the convertor before installing it, made sure it was fully seated before installing the whole trans. I then put 8 quarts in the pan. So had a total of 9 quarts in the trans. There were no leaks once it was running, no weird noises either.

When I was installing the trans the convertor spun freely once the bellhousing bolts were tight. The tc bolts pulled it the 1/8" gap towards the flywheel. So everything went back together as it should have, just not sure why it stalled a few times. The engine when it stalled seemed like it was pulled down. Almost similar to dumping a clutch in a high gear and it dieing.

Haven't tried checking anything else yet as I have other stuff to do this evening. Hopefully it was just some fluke thing.
