This is in a 1985 Blazer, without the computer. I've found lots of posts on the lockup but nothing about wiring. This 700r4 is behind a carbed motor, and has the standard 4 prong plug that plugs into the tranny. On the engine bay side of the harness splits out three plugs, two (black ones) have obvious hook ups, there is a stray red male plug that goes to the passenger side that I can't find the female that it plugs into. Any ideas? Can someone walk outside and check theirs or post up a wiring diagram.

I'd suspect that would be for the vacuum switch, it was/is mounted on the firewall on that side.

No reason not to run it.

I had no complaints with my stock lockup setup in my '83.

Only three options, short it or leave it open, either it will stay locked up while you try to pass, climb hills, etc., or it will never lock up, always assuming its under a heavy load. Or, get the switch and let it work as intended.
