I just picked up a 92 k2500 for a donor rig for a street legal tube car crawler Im building. Is there a way to go to a full manual shift on the 700r4 without tearing into the ecu?

Are you sure you have a 700r4? I pretty sure a 3/4 ton from a 92 will have a 4l80e...

should be a tv cable not a traditional kick down. the 4l60 E was introduced in 93. so probably is a 700R4

Ok, Ive heard this TV cable term a lot lately but till now I haven't even thought about it. What is a TV cable exactly? Obviously I'm a an ole school :dunno:.

throttle valve cable, controls the line pressure inside the transmission based on throttle input via cable....

OHHHH! Sounds like that could be a critical on how that gets adjusted up?

Super critical. As in, burns up the tranny in a couple of miles if its wrong.

From what I have read, when the engine throttle is at idle, the transmission is supplying low pressure to the system.

As soon as the throttle moves, it kicks the pressure up if its set correctly. If not, then the transmission drives off with the clutches slipping due to insufficient pressure.

By full manual, do you mean a reverse manual valve body? If so, those sometimes eliminate the TV cable and run high pressure all the time. It just sits in whichever gear you select.

That is what I want to do. Just put it in any gear and leave it till I want to shift.
