Thursday afternoon on the way home from work my transmission (89 GMC Jimmy, stock) started shifting odd. Really long shifts, like 5-10 mph higher than normal. Once it got up to operting temp it seemed better but not 100%. I searched and Greg Ducato seemed to come up in nearly every search. I pm'd Greg and he suggested the filter may be clogged, so I changed it this morning. When I dropped the pan I found very little friction material and no debris in the pan.
I stuck in the wix filter and 5 qts of royal purple. Took it for a drive. It started off much the same but got much better quickly. Within 5 miles it was shifting smoother than ever.
I am going to let it sit again over night and check it out in the morning, but I feel certain that got it.
