Can a TBI 700R4 work in say a 1985 truck and the lock up torque converter still function?

I know that the TV cable is different, I can switch that.

I'm wondering about the electrical plug for the lockup solenoid. Can we plug that in with the '85s vacuum switch and it still function correctly?

From what I understand, TBI uses the computer to control the lockup, I've never owned a TBI/700R4 truck so I just need to know this.

Tranny is from an '89 K5 with TBI obviously.

Anyone know?

all you need is 12v to the tranny and it will lock up in 4th gear it is very simple to wire. I wire mine with a three way switch lock up off 4th only and lock up in any gear. There are a few sites that show pictures online i will post the address when i find the sites

I know how to do it that way.

I want to know if it'll plug in so his vacuum switch will work correctly.

most likley it would not GM wire the inside of the pan in a few dozen different ways. If you go to a set up like i used you could use it in any thing you wanted to because all you need is a 12v supply

it will work, as long as all the switches are hooked up. all the switchs work together to allow power to go to the tranny. it will plug ing the same and work the same.

inside the tranny, they did change the wiring, but it all acomplishes the same thing.

Sweet, you're the man.

New TV cable and plug it in and we're good, sweet.

Built 400 SBC is rough on 700s. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

Wait three years.

He's already burned up several. Never tows anything. Old man driver.

no problem. the tv cable will work, mainly its just the length is different sticking out of the housing, its adjustable though.

the tranny in my truck was originally from a 89 chevy van. i rebuilt it, put a 4wd output shaft in it and put ti in my truck. i bought the cable for the van mainly cause i was gonna put it in my s10 with TBI.
so i installed it, the only thing was at WOT the cable was keeping it from going WOT when adjusted correctly. now i don't feel it and it still shifts perfect. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
