What is a good tempreture for one of these bad boys to run at? Ill be putting in a temp gage soon and just whant to know what normal temps are. As it is now i can run down the freeway for a few hours and the tranny fluid feels cooler and is eiasier to handle than the oil (running my fingers down the dipstick). Well thanks for any imput.

mine runs from 150 to 165 or so with a cooler and remote filter....

well the tranny has 10K on it since it was rebuilt and the fluid still looks like new stuff out of a bottle. That and my motor oil feels warmer so i think i should be good. Is this a good train of thought?

aux coolers for 700r4's are the standard upgrade. cheap insurance.. heat is the biggest enemy of a 700.. especially if you do any towing...

well my biggest concern is that ill be running 35x12.50 BFG M/Ts whith 3.73 gears. Do you think i will be good to go? Ill probly just run the 700R4 until i can do the 465/205 swap.
Sorry This is MEPR im just on pvfjrs computer:blush:

well, i'm about to run 36's with 3.73's and my 700r4 temporarily.. i expect to never see OD.. h*ll i barely see it now with 32's.. i'll be jumping it up to 4:56 at a minimum when i go 1 ton...

without a cooler, i wouldn't want to run it long with that setup... i would throw the gauge in and see how it does.. first sign of 220ish i'd be throwing a cooler in... like i said, cheap mod.. as a matter of fact, if the gauge and cooler mod where the same price, i'd do the cooler...

I've been told anything over about 200* is BAD, and 175* is a great operating temp.

I have the same setup and it seemed to run fine. I don't have a gauge but the fluid looked great after a years abuse. Although it is a just rebuilt beefed up 700 and the previous 700 had let go right before i bought the truck. I would recommend a cooler and gauge no matter what tho. with tires and stock gears theres no reason not to. I plan to get one after my first paycheck.

I have 4.10's with 36's and I see OD. I turn about 2,100 in OD at 70. It's about equivalent to 235/75/15 (29" tire) with 3.42's which came stock on the truck.

I run a 700R4 with 35" tires and 4.56 gears and i used to have a tranny cooler (until it formed a leak on me) and i had to remove it. With the tranny cooler hooked up the tranny never seen anything over 180 in the summer and 150 in the winter. Now that the cooler isn't hooked up i currently run right about 200 running down the freeway at 70 mph and about 180 around town.

what if i were to run 33s? either way they will be A/Ts so they should be eisier to roll right? I dont do a whole lot of wheeling honestly, im just looking to build my truck so it will still be a great DD but will still run down trails just fine.
