1. On the 700R4 tranny, how can you tell the difference between the early version and the '88 and up version. I know the newer one has a better case than the early one, but are there any obvious differences? 
Mine is acting up and I might have a chance to get a rebuilt one for a couple hundred bucks. But I want to be able to tell if it's the newer or older version. Anythings better than nothing, but I would still like to know what I'm putting under my K5.
