I have about 140,000 mi on my 1988 Chev Suburban. The shift lever has gradually become looser so that you don't have to pull it toward you, while sitting in the driver's seat, in order to shift gears. The shift lever's normal position at rest is now almost forward to the steering wheel. No other sign of tranny trouble yet. Is this a sign of imminent problems or should I ignore it?
