Ok I'm trying to find out when the 700R4 went from a 4 bolt flange at the rear to a 6 bolt?

Up until today i thought they were all 4 bolt, so im kinda confused.

Thanks guys!

I've had the original in my 87, a junkyard unit, one from Monster transmission on Ebay, and my current TCI Truckmaster, and they all have 4 bolt's. Did you see one? Or did someone just tell you there was one?

That tranny is actually the 4L60E and they went to six bolt tail hosuings around mid 90's IIRC. I did a quick search on google and it appears that the 6 bolt tail housing started in either 1997 or 1998.

1996.5 in the vans and 4.3 2wd and 1997 in the fullsize trucks and they also went removable bell and then bigger input and stronger torque in 1998
