700r4 question

My friend has a 90 model GMC 2500 with a 700r4 that is in the trans shop for a rebuild. It had a few external leaks,but drove and shifted fine.
The shop wants 1800.00 to rebuild it.

looking for other options...

conversion to manual ?
mail order and install it himself.

anyone had any luck with ordering on online ???

Why is it in the shop for a rebuild if it drove fine? I would have them tell you where and why its leaking before they open it up.

Bowtie overdrive seems to be the most prefered.

had a few leaks,,including the front seal,,,truck doesn't see a lot of use,,only about 70k on the odometer..

before they open it up.

Too late,,,,they tore it down before he called me,,I told him to have them box it up,,,1800.00 seems high for a rebuild that had only 70K on the clock.

I have done many T-400's and T-350's and 1 700r4...I'll stick to the older model transmissions....

I think I can find something online for a little less or the same money but from a major rebuilder and probably has mods done to it...

We can stick it in,,no problem..was just wanting to see if anyone else has gone this route before..
