Does anyone know how to adjust the rpm that a 700r4 will shift at going frome 1 to 2nd. This is for a street application in a ta. (not mine) /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif

adjust the TV cable, when you push the button to adjust it, push it in just a little (away from throttle)

edit: this will affect all gears though, AFAIK you can't change all just one shift without effecting other shifts. on a 4L60E you can adjust every shift point with a computer.

That tv cable is't for the down shift adjusment is it? /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif maby thats only for the 350/400 but if it does make it shift earlier how does it tell it to shift? /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif
I was looking for when you romp on her off the line and she hits 2nd /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif right now it shifts to late needs to shift earler /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif
I'v always liked the 4 speed you can bang a gear any time you want /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif yea yeeeea bang the gear /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif it's only fun till you blow one up /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif

Generally you want the tranny to shift later or higher in the RPM range under hard acceleration.

The TV cable controls both down shifting and how late it shifts up.

You need to make it tighter, try and give it 2 clicks and see what happens, sometimes it doesn't take much to get it right.

tighter=higher rpm shift points
looser=lower rpm shift points

tighter is away from throttle
looser is closer to throttle

only go 1 click at a time to get it where you want it. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Adjusting the TV cable isn't the quite the "proper" way to adjust the shift points and you could screw it up doing it that way if you don't know what you are doing (just like with just about anything else).

It is the govoner that controls WOT shift points. You need to add weight on the tabs or use softer springs in it. Go to the j/y and pull one to mess with so you can always go back to the stock one if you screw it up. All you need is a screw driver to pry back the hold down clamp from the cover on the back drivers side to get one out/in. I think TransGo makes a kit with different springs to mess with it.

Triaged is totally right. Using the TV cable to adjust shift points can blow your tranny.
If you want to learn what exactly it is you are screwing with. I suggust you read this. TV system101
