700R4 speedo cable Q\'s?

I recently bought a freshly rebuilt 700R4 Tranny that was out of a 1989 K5...The tranny will be going in my 1987 K5. My question is, does the 89 tranny have and "accessory port" (for lack of better term) to drive the speedo cable on my Blazer? Didn't the 89 have the speedo driven off the T-case? and on mine its driven off the Tranny...? Thaks for the help....

Was that a speed bump? No, just a Rice Rocket </font color=red> <a target="_blank" href=http://coloradok5.com/gallery/fortcollinsram>My 87 Blazer</a>

Your speedo should be driven off your tcase. My 85's is, and if the 89's are then I would assume your 87 would too. Its easy to find the speedo cable. Get under your truck, and there should be a cable running from the backside of the case toward the drivers side of the engine bay. It should be somewhere near your rear output on the tcase.

My Chevy isn't broken, its just out of gas.

Yep, the speedo is driven off of the output side of the t-case. If it were driven from the tranny, then the speedo would read way faster than your true speed in low range.

I've got an 87 silverado also -- NP 208 ... passenger side of the TCase just before the output "cone" of the case. It's gotta a little fork looking piece of "sheet" metal that holds it in with 2 small bolts. The deallie that actually plugs into the TCase is about 1 1/2" in diameter (cable on the outside end, speedo gear inside the TCase). There are two Orings involved ... a small one (3/8" diam or so) and a big-un (1 1/2" diam or so) ... be sure to replace those and use a little sillycone or the ole 208 will leak from another spot.

Hate to use technical terms ... but you get the gist
