Strength I believe is better with the short one, no weak point bridging from the mount to the case like the tall one.
The tall one uses a straight crossmember that goes under the front driveshaft and protects it, the short uses a W shaped crossmember that goes above the front driveshaft, this makes it easier for lifts where the shaft drooping will not hit the cross member.
Each one has it's Pros and cons.

Kinda seen that one coming Anyway I am going to use the short one to drop transfer case down for driveline angle. Being installed with clocking ring too then a nice flat skid plate.
