Gents,

I think i have a 700r4 overdrive trans on my 72 blazer and ive been having issues keep her in 1st gear whilst wheeling.

Does anyone know of a 'how to' or what to do to get the 1st gear selected. I only really car about P,R,N,OD and 1st.

Any suggestions to sort it out. I took some pictures of the selector to help people.

If the shift lever coming out of the column is hitting the column tube you may need to notch the tube to get more travel.

Sorry I don't have any useful info on the trans, but I would recommend posting this in the garage. 2 reasons, a lot more traffic in there, and the trans wasn't original for the first gen blazers (don't think it was out until about '82, if you believe the internet).

Though you may still get an answer in here.

I have also heard be real careful with adjusting stuff on the 700r4 as the TV cable needs to be set correctly or you will burn it up.

Are we sure it's a 700r4? The 700 pan will be rectangular, while the 350 pan looks like it has a corner cut off. Google for images.
