Found 700R4 transmission

I will give them a call. So far I checked jegs.com and summitracing.com and the cheapest ones they have run around $1900. That's pricey! O'reilly sells 700R4 for ~$1250. Where can I get better price?

Last I did with shift Management Inc it was $1600 but they build good transmissions with the upgrades and they are local, and the warranty is 18000 miles 18 months.
They also are nationwide so the warranty is good anywhere in the us.

I just bought a 700r4 from Pheonix Transmission in Texas. About $2k out the door with a 3 year warranty. The days of a transmission being under $1000 are long gone.

I had the 4L80e in my truck done at Phoenix too. Great customer service, lots of upgrades and no BS.
Truck was ready when they said and worked perfectly (picked it up and drove it 2600 miles with a loaded trailer as a shake down run).

Greg is a member here (@Greg Ducato ) definitely worth contacting him.

Shift Management Inc quoted me $950 for rebuilt transmission 1985 or 1986 assuming I return the core. I was told that I should go for 1987 or newer as they have auxiliary valve body. Do you have recommendations either way?

Yep go for the K case and the later guts. I went with a stock setup and Scott from Phoenix asked about the use, gears, tires, and so on and built it for my use. Nothing crazy just good parts.

Awesome if you like gambling with mail order. Pull it out, put it in if you're lucky. If not, pull it out, put it in again. @foylinj has one in his K5 that he built. It's coming out for a second time to try and find the broken part making noise underload. I have a local guy do it for me. Find a local shop you trust and pay the piper. Worth every penny in the end.

That's why I work with shift Management Inc, they are local to me and they are nation wide
