My 90 K5 has a 700R4 that needs replacing/rebuilding. I have an offer to aquire a 4O80 with transfer case.

I need to know if this will work and what the value is of the transmission 40K miles after a rebuild. I am guessing 300-400 bucks.

Any info you have would help.

Thanks.

do you mean 4l80?

if so it will work but more than likely the transfer case wont since its from a 90s truck. it would be driver drop so you could sell it to offset some of the cost of getting the 4l80 to work

What would the cash value be on the tranny? Could I use a transfer case that was meant to go on a 90 onto this transmission?

You will need a controller to run the 4L80e. The most simple would most likely be to just convert your ECM to a PCM such as the 14167060. You will also need the full wiring harness for the tranny. I also think that the crossmember is in a different location, but you will want to verify that.

good luck,

Strength-wise aren't these night and day in the stock form? Meaning that the 4L80E is meant for heavy duty hauling applications, designed for more torque/horsepower?
