So I am considering buying a 700r4 from "RaysJimmy". he is selling some of his stuff
http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=272319

i want a 4 speed, i have a th350 and a 205 transfer case.
I have read many posts and i think this will swap i just need a different adapter between the trans and transfer?
and a wiring harness adapter to get the overdrive to kick in?

It seems like i have read dozens of posts and this is as close as i got to an answer, sorry if its a noob question that has been beaten like a dead horse.

there are 2 ways to mate a 205 to a 700-r4. You can use the current shaft with a spacer in between the transmission and the transfer case adapter, or you can get a shorter output shaft for the 700-r4. You are probably better off getting the spacer. This is because the output shaft requires tearing into the transmission and some people have had trouble with the double cardian joint hitting the pan when using the short shaft and the 205

what he said.....

i'm running the fitzall spacer.... Scott knows the #....

You will need to use your existing TH350/205 adapter AND a Teckpak Fitzall spacer (# 7Q-35A). Some people have been rumored to have to cut a very small amount of the output shaft off of the trans (1/8" or less).

the electric part is easy , find a early 80's Truck with lockup and grab the vacuum switch off firewall by brakebooster ( not tip in switch on passenger side ) , the brake switch and bracket , and the harness . its a simple plug and play ( well if your in a old rig you have to splice 12 volts in , its pnp on 73-86 harnesses ) circuit powered by fuseblock , a brake switch , and a vacuum hose to intake . It doesn't measure speed or anything , the early system simply sees that motor is under load or not by vacuum , and brake switch insures you don't stall at stoplights .

this is what i have right now

so trans(th350) on the left, adaptor, transfer on right.
switch the trans(700r4), then fitzall spacer, adaptor, transfer case (205) right?

so im assuming with a longer trans and a spacer i am going to have to move my crossmember back and modify my axles?

You will have to move the crossmember and redo driveshafts (front becomes longer and rear becomes shorter). You will also have to do something about the shifter since it will be moved rearward and won't come through the hole in the floor in the proper place anymore.
