Destroyed th350 and just swaped in a 700r4 and all seems good but I hear kind of a low pitch whine noise when it is in gear. Just wondering if this is norm. I think the only reason I hear it is that I have trans cover off on floor pan.

Have any leaks? My guess is that it's coming from the pump or pump seal.

Or put the trans cover on it and turn the radio up. :D

Could also be your torque convertor. Does it stop whining in park and neutral?
When you put it in gear, the convertor locks 70 or so percent in which the internals start spinning on the bearings within. When it is in park or neutral, everything is freewheeling.
I had the same problem with a "new" re-man a while back - it was so much fun the first time to drop and get the tranny rebuilt with a "new" convertor, I got to do it again to replace the "new" convertor with a different one!!
