700r4 with a 208? 205?

I have a 205 and adapter for a th350, and a 208 and adapter for a 700r4 with the spacer used for a th350. What length output shaft is needed on the 700r4 to work with either case? A friend has a 700r4 from an 89 2wd truck, it has a tailshaft housing about 5 or 6 inches long. Would this transmission work with either t-case or does the 700 use a special length output shaft for 4x4?

The output shaft on a 700R4 from a 4WD is several inches shorter than the one on a 2WD. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
