700r4

I was talking to a guy at my shop today and hes going to help me rebuild it. I'm looking around at parts now, but I'm not ordering anything till I take it apart on saturday.

x2 thats exactly what i did plus i got a 5 pinion gear planetary for mine as well. Works great, has about 1500 miles on it though.

I like the prices of the eatmyshift.com place. I still don't know what all is wrong with mine. The guy that is goint to help me rebuild it thinks its the pump that went out and sent metal shavings through my trans. Will know more this weekend.

yah. It was a deal gone bad and I could not see it coming till It was over. I know 3 other shops out here that are not that reputable and a few others I have dealt with in the past that I would never recomend eigther. I have to say in 20 years I only found one local guy that was honest and forthwith but that was a long time ago and I have no idea where or who he is anymore.

I knew I ordered 5 things from them and I couldn't remember what it was... I ordered a pump from them as well... Best thing you can do is put a cooler on it as well, I still have yet to do this because I'm no good at pioritizing and the 3/4 ton axles in my shop have taken over my budget :doah:, but it's in the near future.

Ive been shoping coolers too and the biggest I've found so far was 21"x11"x1 1/2". Thats going to be factored into my Trans rebuild also.

Just finished pulling the trans, I started at about 8ish. My first time ever taking a trans out of a chevy and only my 2nd trans I've ever messed with. One thing I messed up on was disconnecting the TV cable and I already had everything else un-hooked besides that. So I cut the cable and will just replace it. Good news, the store manager told me he thinks alot of me and he left me a key to the shop. He said I can come in on saturdays and stay as late as 10 pm, but make sure to lock up good. So parts list is starting to form with a clocking ring for the T-case(why not since its already off the back of the trans, and a TV cable. I will get my moms digi to take pictures of the tear down fo the actual transmission so we can use it for a "noobies guy to 700R4 rebuilding", yes I'ma noobie. Welp time to clean up and go home for a cold beer to celebrate my Irish heritage.

Just ordered my clocking ring from kurt, and will be ordering a throttle valve cable tomorrow morning at work, and begin the teardown.

Decided to get it rebuilt instead. I just don't have the time at the momment and I need the truck ASAP. I will make a deposit on my rebuild friday and drop off the trans then. And I forgot to order the TV cable today, I was mucho busy at work. Did however get a pair of 64" springs for free, I found them in the back of the shop.

Well the clocking ring is on its way, I found a adapter on ebay for a SM465-NP208, ran a couple searches and I'm thinking about it. What would yall do? I've got a old station wagon for a daily driver now, sucks but hey now I can tear apart the K5. Ive already got the trans and t-case pulled. Found a couple 465s on ebay and one on craigslist in my area. Might have to take a trip to the junkyard and see whats there. I just cant decided on what I want to do, A) rebuild my 700r4 myself B) have someone rebuild my 700R4 C) go SM465 with hyrdro clutch.
