700R4 ???

I just found out that when I manually downshift from D(3) to 2nd that the tranny goes into a freewheel mode until I step on the gas. You can't drop a gear and compression it down /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif When I step on the gas after it freewheels it rev's and drops into 2nd.
Is this another oddity of the 700R4 or is it just my tranny getting ready to puke?

Also, it shifts UP crisply when accelerating moderately... but if you are on it hard it mushes pretty badly /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I can "brake" w/my tranny through all the gears if that's what you are talking about. Have you checked the fluid? They will do funny things when the fluid is low. Oh I have a shift kit also but I don't think that it affects that. Hope this helps.
